Covid-19 Mask Making

A community service of EBHQ: Face Masks and Now Gowns! Keep Sewing

Greeting to all house-bound EBHQ quilters. We hope you're avoiding stress by doing what we love: SEWING!!  At last count EBHQ sewists have made and given away over 6,118 masks, 150 gowns and 150 surgical caps to various local medical groups.

Many have put out a call for cotton masks for health workers and by golly, our generous army of sewists can do this. We are ready, willing and able.

These masks are being used to extend the life of N95 masks that health professionals use and are running out of, and for other medical helpers in hospitals who want some protection.

Carolyn has contacted our local hospitals and they would very much like masks. She will coordinate the drop off if you want to make masks and drop them in a Ziploc at her home.  Please email her for delivery instructions at ebhq.ddcqp@gmail.com

During the pandemic, she also has DDCQP kits to sew and pinned quilts for quilting available at her home. Email first please.

Mask Patterns:

The 3D face mask no fog, to view the YouTube

The Fu Face Mask is made with "ribbon" and not elastic for printed instructions

This Deaconess pattern is easy and can be made with elastic or ribbon.   If you cut 9 x 8 rather than 9 x 6, it is a better fit and easier to pleat.

Another one: A.B. Mask -- for a Nurse by a Nurse is made with ties. It can fit over a N95 mask so it's a bit more complicated. The includes pattern and step by step picture instructions.

And yet one more link to Kadiddlehopper for an easy pleated mask with elastic or ties.

For yet another quick and easy mask pattern, visit CraftyLori.

You can find Carolyn's address and phone in the EBHQ's directory or use her email address above.

Go for it!
