This is a two day workshop. 9-12 each day
Tumbling, tipping, toppling and teetering shapes are the focus of this workshop. Explore movement, rhythm and asymmetry in fabric collage. A stack of bowls on the table, an old stone wall, or even a pile of books at the library. Each of these examples depend on shapes that are repeated over and over. By using simple design principles as a guide, we can distribute the visual weight of objects to feel balanced and stable - or not! We will embrace movement and rhythm in a playful way, beginning with shapes in paper form, stacking and pushing the images to the very extreme. Then you will choose your Cornucopia of Good Things. By sharing a few easy techniques on fast and fun ways to create your shapes, you will be quickly on your way to stacking colorful elements to the sky - or tumbling them to the floor!
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Sewing machines suggested, but it is possible to complete this project without if you choose.
