2024 Round Robin

The 2024 Round Robin is now underway!

Each participant provided a center piece to be added to by 5 other group members in a Medallion or Improvisational style. On the fifth exchange, the quilt top will be returned to the originator.

Medallion top starts with a center block (pieced or whole cloth), square or rectangular, 10 to 12" on a side. Subsequent quilters will add a series of 3” to 8" borders on all 4 sides, usually using traditional block designs, incorporating symmetry, and color coordination. Borders can also include scrappy fabrics, self-designed quilt blocks, and wholecloth fabric; a liberated design style ala Gwen Marston. Many 2022 quilt tops incorporated many of these ideas.

An Improvisational quilt starts with a center piece of an unspecific, whimsical shape, pieced or whole cloth, covering approximately a 10 to 12" undefined area. Subsequent quilters can add fabric anywhere they please, as well as slice slice into and rearrange fabric.

Round Robin provides the opportunity to explore new techniques, and to use fabrics and colors that are different from your usual style. It's your chance to experiment. and expand your design repertoire.
